Great things are happening for Taylor County, and here at the Grafton-Taylor County Health Department we’re eager to keep up. In an effort to grow with our community, we are now offering more services that are easily assessible and available to everyone.
Our newest program features our Nurse Practitioner, Diana Boyle, and serves the youngins’ of Taylor County. That’s right, it’s all about the kids this time! (When is it not, am I right?) We are now offering Well Child Visits by appointment daily! Now it’s easier than ever to fulfill your children’s medical needs.
So what are Well Child Visits? Also referred to as EPSDTs (Early and Periodic Screenings, Diagnosis and Treatment) or HealthCheck, they are screenings for children 21 and under to detect health problems early and prevent future problems from occurring. These screenings are free for children enrolled in Medicaid, and are usually covered by private insurances as well. (For more information on coverage, contact our Billing Specialist Krista Turner.)
These examinations include the following services: hearing exams, vision exams, nutritional needs, health care and treatment to correct or improve medical conditions found during the screening, routine shots and immunizations, growth and development checks, health education for parents and youth, lab tests (including urinalysis, hemoglobin/hematoctit, tuberculin tests, and blood lead testing), and referral for other health care (if necessary). These exams are comprehensive and assess your child’s health in all areas including behavioral health.
Sounds pretty lengthy, doesn’t it? Fortunately, our clinic is designed to give your child the time and care they need. That means spending less time in the waiting room and more time with our practitioner. We know how important your kids are, and we don’t want to miss a thing. Your child will be seen in a timely fashion and assessed thoroughly.
All of these services and more are available at the Grafton-Taylor County Health Department. Our clinic is now accepting new patients. For more information, please call the office at 304-265-1288 or visit our website at www.GTCHDWV.org. We look forward to hearing from you.
