Drive into flu season
In a small town like Grafton, people take their time and move at their own pace. Half the time, a short trip to Walmart turns into a two-hour trip and a reunion with your 1st grade teacher. You guys know what I’m talking about. Catching up with old friends can be nice, but it’s almost never convenient. And these days, the world’s all about convenience. We like our food fast, our lines short, and our time well spent.
Here at the Grafton-Taylor County Health Department, we know how busy you are. In an effort to make your life a little easier, we are launching a new type of flu clinic. Next Friday, September 8th, we will be hosting a Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic at the Grafton First Baptist Church that will be open from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
At the clinic, our friendly staff will be outside and ready to prepare you for the upcoming flu shot. There will be signs directing traffic to make the experience a breeze. Simply drive into the clinic, proceed to the registration section, fill out our consolidated form, and then get your vaccinate. All in the comfort of your car.
If you don’t want to fuss with registration, you can download the form at our website www.GTCHDWV.org, fill it out, and bring it with you to the clinic. We will have a “pre-registration” line that will make your experience even more streamlined.
The clinic is available to anyone 19 years or older, regardless of insurance. Although the clinic is in Taylor County, citizens of surrounding counties are welcome and encouraged to participate.
Interested? Great! Here are a few things to remember.
1. We bill a variety of insurances, so be sure to bring your insurance card.
2. We administer the Quadrivalent flu vaccine that protects against: Influenza A strains, H1N1 and H3N2, and two Influenza B strains.
3. We will not be administering the nasal flu vaccine this year, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
4. For those without insurance, the flu vaccine costs $30.00 per dose and we currently accept payment in the form of cash or check only.
(Note: If this fee is a burden, we have a sliding fee scale available. No one will be turned away for their inability to pay.)
