Growing up, I got sick all the time. If my allergies weren’t acting up, I had strep throat. If I didn’t have strep, I had bronchitis or pneumonia. Needless to say, my poor mother and I were frequent flyers in the doctor’s office and sometimes the E.R.

Fortunately, as I grew up, I grew out of the frequent sicknesses. But on the rare occasion I do come down with something, I still want my mom to wrap me in a blanket, fix me a hot cup of tea with honey and a bowl of chicken noodle soup. I swear that combination can fix anything.

Unfortunately, I’m all grown up now and I have to take care of myself when I’m sick, but the familiar comfort of hot soup and tea always makes me feel a little bit better. It feels like home.

Here at the Grafton-Taylor County Health Department, we know how good it feels to be home, and we strive to bring that comfort to your health care experience. That’s why we have a section specially dedicated to bringing your care to you, where you can heal and rest in your happy place.

The Home Health section consists of a knowledgeable and dedicated staff providing: skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and certified home health aides, ventilator care, infusion therapy, antibiotic therapy, chemotherapy, pain management, TPN therapy, enteral tube feeding therapy, PICC lines, tracheostomy care and ostomy care, and more.

Our agency currently serves Taylor, Barbour, Marion, Preston, Monongalia, and Harrison counties and is available seven days a week – 24 hours a day, including holidays.

If you’re interested in receiving home health services or would like more information about this program, please call 304-265-1288 and ask for our Home Health Nursing Manager, Scott Cawthon, or visit our website at
